Melvin O. Bobo, 64, of Douglass, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011, in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Bobo was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Nacogdoches County to Melvin O. Bobo Sr. and Adelle Furra Bobo and was a longtime resident of the Douglass area. He was a 1965 graduate of Nacogdoches High School.
Mel was a family man with high principles and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mel was a self-employed logging contractor for over 40 years in the East Texas timber industry. Mel loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Mel was also an avid sports enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Diane S. Bobo of Douglass; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Sandoz of Douglass; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Micah Bobo of Douglass; grandchildren, Marin Sandoz, Brittany Bobo, Blake Bobo, Addison Sandoz, Jace Bobo, and Drew Bobo, all of Douglass; his mother, Adelle Bobo of Douglass; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Susan Bobo of Nacogdoches and Perry and Richie Bobo of Hallsville.
He was preceded in death by a son, James David Bobo in 1999, and his father, Melvin O. Bobo Sr. in 1996.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North St., Nacogdoches, with Bro. John McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery on FM 225.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
Pallbearers: Harvey Alex, Charles Christopher, Ronnie Muller, Lafer Coulter, Dennis McDuffie, and Byron Taylor.
