Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of “It Might Get Loud” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.
The 97-minute documentary revolves around a day when three electric guitar virtuosos—Jimmy (Led Zeppelin), The Edge (U2) and Jack White (The White Stripes)—first met and sat down together to share their stories, teach and play.
By concentrating on each artist’s musical rebellion, traveling with them to influential locations, provoking rare discussions as to how and why they write and play, director Davis Guggenheim allows the viewer to witness intimate moments and hear new music from each guitarist.
The film, which was selected for the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, is rated PG. It is sponsored in part by Friends of the Visual Arts board member Karon Gillespie and Nacogdoches Junior Forum.
Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. For more information, please call (936) 468-1131.
