A funeral service for Theresa Chambers, 96, will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches with Monsignor James Young officiating.
Theresa passed away on June 17, 2011. She was born on December 2, 1914 to her late parents, Jesse Ewing and Theresa Linam in China, Texas. In her early years, she enjoyed the position, Director of IBM of the Houston Post Newspaper. She was married in 1933 to Robert Chambers. They spent 65 years together. Theresa and her sister-in-law, Judy enjoyed taking trips that took them around the world, including the countries of Europe, Israel, Turkey, and Africa. She was always ready to go. Theresa was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed reading all types of books. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Ladies Guild, and Third Age at Sacred Heart Church. To many of her friends, she was a “social butterfly” and never met a stranger. She dearly loved being surrounded by her family and enjoyed her last trip to Tennessee where she got to see the snow fall during the Christmas season. Affectionately known as Te-Ta, she will be missed by her family and all of those who knew her.
Theresa is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret McClinton and husband Ed, of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Cathy Stanton and husband, John of Clarksville Tennessee, Larry McClinton, and wife, Charlotte of Houston, Suzy Hall and husband, Mark of Pennsylvania, Gary McClinton of Nacogdoches, and Brad Chambers of Hilo, Hawaii; ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Robert; three brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jake Stanton, Travis Stanton, Jordan McClinton, Sean McClinton, Matt McClinton, and Daniel McClinton.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. Interment will follow the funeral service at Sunset Memorial Park on Wednesday. Memorial donations may be offered to Sacred Heart Church, 2508 Appleby Sand Road, Nacogdoches, Texas, 75965
