The Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating a four vehicle crash that has resulted in the death of a Nacogdoches County resident.
The crash occurred at 5:48 PM in the 1800 block of Southwest Stallings Drive, south of the Durst Street (FM 225) crossing. According to the investigation, a 2003 Dodge pickup, driven by Jimmy Dean Lee, age 41 of Pollock, was southbound on Loop 224. For undetermined reasons, this vehicle crossed the center median of the loop and struck a northbound 1997 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Cherylee Silva, 61 of Nacogdoches. This collision caused the Chevrolet Lumina to be struck by a White Freightliner loaded with logs driven by Quincy Lampkin, 34 of Nacogdoches. The 2003 Dodge pickup then collided in the northbound lanes with a 2009 Peterbilt semi truck driven by Jeffrey Spangler, 50, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
Ms. Silva was transported to a local hospital where she died shortly after arrival. Mr. Lee was transported to a Nacogdoches hospital where he was admitted with incapacitating injuries. Neither of the drivers of the semi trucks reported injuries.
The Nacogdoches Fire Department and Nacogdoches County EMS responded to the scene, along with officials from the Texas Department of Transportation.
NPD Officers were on the scene until shortly before midnight investigating the accident. Both north and southbound lanes of Loop 224 in the area of the accident were restricted to one lane on each side for almost six hours.
