The Nacogdoches Police Department is currently investigating a major motor vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Southwest Stallings Drive (Loop 224).
The crash was reported at 5:48 PM. Preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck was southbound on Loop 224, crossed into the northbound lanes, and struck a Chevrolet Lumina driven by Cherylee Anne Silva, age 61 of Nacogdoches. This impact caused a semi truck to strike the Chevrolet Lumina, and the pickup to strike another semi truck in the northbound lanes.
Ms. Silva was pronounced dead at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
The Nacogdoches Police Department Traffic Division is currently performing a reconstruction of the accident scene and will be on the scene for the next several hours. The inside lanes of both northbound and southbound traffic in this area are closed at this time. Motorists are asked to avoid this area for the next several hours, as traffic is extremely congested in this area. If travel in this area is absolutely necessary, utilize extreme caution.
The names of other drivers, injured persons and information on the accident will not be available until in the morning, when another media advisory will be issued.
