The City of Nacogdoches proudly announces the State of Texas approval of TH Healthcare’s Enterprise Zone Project application for a $10,180,000 capital investment to Nacogdoches Medical Center, located at 4920 NE Stallings Drive.
Mayor Roger Van Horn expressed excitement over this public-private partnership, saying “We are pleased to see our city’s medical facilities continue to grow to meet the needs of our citizens, and I am happy the City of Nacogdoches was able to assist the growth of Nacogdoches Medical Center, a valuable asset to Nacogdoches.”
The enterprise zone project process began in August 2010, when the City Council nominated the project to the Texas Enterprise Zone program, a state incentive program designed to encourage companies to retain existing jobs in Texas. Approval of the application will allow TH Healthcare to receive a sales and use tax refund of up to $2,500 for each of the 288 jobs retained in Nacogdoches.
Gary Stokes, Chief Executive Officer of Nacogdoches Medical Center, explained the hospital’s plans for the future, “This designation will help us deliver high quality care to our patients while continuing to support the Nacogdoches economy with our local sales taxes. We are making significant investments in electronic medical records and advanced imaging technology. We are also upgrading our infrastructure with energy efficient exteriors, remodeled patient rooms, new floors, and modern nursing stations.”
The proposed improvements include a $4 million in building improvements and purchase of more than $6 million in equipment over the next five years.
