Obituary: Jerry A. Mason

     Jerry A. Mason, 68, of Woden, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born on September 19, 1942 in Evansville, Indiana, to parents James Louis and Virginia Frances Mason. Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas with Bro. Billy Tubbe officiating with assistance from Bro. Barry Rankin. Interment will follow at Saints Rest Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Jerry A. Mason

     Jerry was a graduate of Smiley High School Class of 1962. He was a retired Southwestern Bell employee of 33 years. He also worked for the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy since 1989 and held the rank of Captain. He was associated with the United Pentecostal Church and affectionately known as “Paw-Paw”. Jerry found time to enjoy guns, “grand-babies”, the Sherriff’s Department and professional wrestling. He made friends everywhere he went and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

     Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy; sons, James Anthony Mason of Rockwall, Texas and Jeffery Allen Mason of Little Elm, Texas; daughter, Jeanna Ann Mason of Woden, Texas; granddaughter, Brittany Ann Alexander of Woden, Texas and fiancé, Caleb Ferguson of Chireno, Texas; grandsons, Clayton Cody Alexander of Woden, Texas, Hunter Allen Mason and Blake Matthew Mason, both of Little Elm, Texas; and Mother-in-law, Ruby L. Castleberry of Nacogdoches, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Brenda Joyce Mitchell and Janice Marie Mason.

     The family would like to acknowledge all of the care given to Jerry by Dr. Vinther and Dr. Pokala, and to especially thank Jerry’s caregivers; Kristi Mewborn, Gina Heard, Erin Holt, Courtney Brown, Tonya Mims, and Cindy Battering for the support they have offered their family during these difficult days.
