Funeral service for Mr. Oscar Marcel Wood, 91, of Timpson, Texas will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 10:00 am at Laird Funeral Home with Johnny Wood and Bro. Russ Atwood officiating.
Burial will follow at Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine County. Mr. Wood was born on December 18, 1919, in San Augustine County, Texas to the late F.E. Wood and Alma Mae Goodwin Wood. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Nacogdoches.
Marcel is survived by a daughter, Cathy D. Lynch of Knoxville, Tennesee; two sons, Dave Wood and wife, Carolyn of Timpson and Johnny Wood and wife, Marry husband of Nacogdoches; he is also survived by eight grandchildren, Carol Lee Searle, Barbara Booth, John Wood, Jason Everett Wood, Matthew Aaron Wood, Dawn Kathleen Grub, Jennifer Rachel Sims and Molly Katherine Bredthauer as well as fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha French and husband, Gerald of Lufkin, Texas; one brother, Billy Wood and wife, Gail of Lake of the Pines.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Wicker Wood; his brothers, Francis E. Wood and Johnny Maxwell Wood and his sister, Betty Jo Brookshire.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, from 6-8 pm at Laird Funeral Home.
