Glen Edgar Mitchell

     A Funeral Service for Glen Edgar Mitchell, 83, will be Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 10:00 am at Sunset Chapel, Cason Monk-Metcalf with Chaplain Arnold Shrewsbury and Jerry Fountain officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Denning, Texas.

     Glen died on November 21, 2010 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

     He was born November 26, 1926, in the Newhope Community in San Augustine, Texas, to Edgar and Rosa Lee Eppes Mitchell.

     Glen attended school in Newhope which had three teachers, then went on to attend San Augustine High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in February 1945. He served on the Destroyer Ship U.S.S Mullaney for 13 months, and was honorably discharged in July 1946.

     Glen worked various jobs, until receiving a permanent position with Nacogdoches Coca-Cola Bottling Company which he worked for 38 years before retiring in 1992.

     Glen always had a love for hunting, fishing, and fiddling, which he did every chance he could. He became a born again Christian as a teenager. Glen was also a member of Masonic Lodge #2, Woodman of the World Veterans, Foreign World National Rifle Association, and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

     He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Rita Mae Fountain Mitchell; his parents, Edgar and Rosa Mitchell; sisters, Melba McElroy and Iva Harold; brother, James Oliver.

     He is survived by his five children, Rhonda Karin Porter, Darene Lanette Mitchell, Linda Kay Justice, Marty Glen Mitchell, and Melanie Anne Mitchell; sister Claudine Jones.

     Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, November 26, 2010 at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
