November 9 Crime Log: A change in location might not be the change he was looking for

PUBLIC INFORMATION REPORT FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2010
INFORMATION FROM 0600 11.8.10 to 0600 11.9.2010

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 1200 BLOCK OF MLK. OFFICERS WERE DISPATCHED TO A BURGLARY OF A COIN OPERATED MACHINE IN PROGRESS. OFFICERS ARRIVED AT THE CAR WASH AND LOCATED CLAUDE HANDY ON THE SCENE ATTEMPTING TO BREAK INTO A MACHINE. THE SUSPECT ALSO HAD AN OUTSTANDING PAROLE WARRANT. HE WAS ARRESTED.

     DWLI; 4500 BLOCK OF NORTH STREET. OFFICER CONTACTED THE SUSPECT ON A TRAFFIC CONTACT. OFFICER FOUND THAT THE DRIVER HAD A SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE AND THE DRIVER WAS ARRESTED.

     DWLI; 1800 BLOCK OF GREER STREET. OFFICER RESPONDED TO AN AUTO ACCIDENT. THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SUSPENDED DRIVERS LICENSE AND WAS ARRESTED.

     BURGLARY OF A HABITATION; 3500 BLOCK OF ASHBURY LANE. AN UNKNOWN SUSPECT ENTERED COMPLAINANT’S RESIDENCE AND REMOVED AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF JEWELRY AND MISC. ITEMS. THE BURGLARY OCCURRED OVER A 30 MINUTE PERIOD MID MORNING MONDAY.

     THEFT-EVADING ARREST; 1100 BLOCK OF NORTH UNIVERSITY DRIVE. A SUSPECT WAS OBSERVED BY THE OWNER OF A BUSINESS CONCEALING ITEMS IN THE STORE. WHEN CONTACTED BY POLICE, THE SUSPECT FLED ON FOOT AND OFFICERS PURSUED. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY.

     FORGERY; 3300 BLOCK OF CENTER HIGHWAY. A PERSON ATTEMPTED TO PAY IN COUNTERFEIT MONEY. THE PERSON HAD RECEIVED THE BOGUS BILL IN CHANGE. THE BILL WAS CONFISCATED.

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 2600 BLOCK OF EAST MAIN. AN UNKNOWN SUSPECT BROKE THE WINDSHIELD OUT OF A VEHICLE.
