Crime Log: Police investigating fatal wreck

     FATAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATED THIS MORNING- Nacogdoches Police are investigating a fatal auto crash that occurred shortly before 6:00 am this morning. The crash occurred in the 1100 block of SE Stallings Drive (Loop 224), near the intersection of Press Road. A 1993 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Jim Risinger, 69 of Lufkin was eastbound on Stallings Drive and left the roadway on the right, striking a culvert. The vehicle then went airborne, travelling some 75 feet and struck a sign pole in the parking lot of Chicken Express. Mr. Risinger and a passenger (his wife), Carolyn Burke Risinger, age 67, were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Carolyn Risinger was pronounced dead at the Emergency Department shortly after arrival. Mr. Risinger was being treated at the time of this report.

     DWI-POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA; 1000 BLOCK OF NORTH UNIVERSITY DRIVE. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF AN INTOXICATED SUSPECT INSIDE A STORE. ON ARRIVAL, THE SUSPECT WAS SEEN LEAVING IN A VEHICLE. OFFICERS CONDUCTED A TRAFFIC STOP AND CONTCATED THE DRIVER. OFFICERS SUSPECTED HIM OF BEING INTOXICATED AND HE WAS ARRESTED. A PASSENGER WAS FOUND TO BE IN POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED MARIJUANA AND WAS ALSO ARRESTED.

     CRIMINAL MISCHIEF; 3400 BLOCK OF EAST MAIN. COMPLAINANT REPORTED THE TIRES ON A PARKED VEHICLE HAD BEEN CUT BY UNKNOWN SUSPECTS.

     THEFT; 1500 BLOCK OF EAST MAIN. COMPLAINANT REPORTED DROPPING MONEY INSIDE A STORE BY ACCIDENT. WHEN COMPLAINANT RETURNED FOR THE MONEY, IT WAS GONE. COMPLAINANT REPORTED DROPPING $560.00.
