The School of Theatre at Stephen F. Austin State University continues to present its SummerStage Festival through July 8 in Kennedy Auditorium on the SFA campus. This year’s festival features “Women Who Weave,” a comedy for young audiences, and “The Jungle Book Kids” musical. Students will present “sensory-friendly” performances of “Women Who Weave” July 6 and 8 at 10 a.m.; and July 7 at 6:30 p.m. These performances are aimed at providing a comfortable theatre experience for people on the autism spectrum and with other neurodiverse conditions, offering audience members “sensory” bags containing materials that can help them better navigate the performance and the space. The bags have ear muffs to buffer loud noises, a communication deck (a set of cards with pictures and words used to communicate needs to others), fidget toys and sanitizing wipes, among other items. Putting the bags together are Connor Molen, Ponder sophomore; and Olivia Cantrell, Brenham junior. “The Jungle Book Kids” will continue its run at 10 a.m. July 7; and at 6:30 p.m. July 6 and 8. General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students/youth. To purchase tickets, call the SFA Fine Arts Box Office at (936) 468-6407 or access finearts.sfasu.edu/purchase. For more information about SummerStage, visit theatre.sfasu.edu.
