The recital is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church at 411 North St.
Inman describes the concert repertoire as “strongly lyrical, emphasizing gorgeous melodies and interesting timbre possibilities when combining flute and piano.”
Slovenian composer Rozman wrote “Tale of the Forest Nymph” in 2010 for Kaja Lešnjak. He comments, “The piece talks about a mysterious, content little forest nymph that is flying around the forest, doing all sorts of magic and causing occasional mischief when her spells go wrong.”
In 1824, Austrian composer Schubert wrote Sonata per Arpeggione for the six-stringed bowed instrument. Due to the arpeggione’s obsolescence, the work has been transcribed for a variety of instruments, including cello, viola and flute.
Inspired by French Baroque dance suites, American composer-pianist Harberg wrote “Court Dances” in 2017. The outer movements “sparkle with rhythmic vitality and register extremes, while the melancholy central movement contrasts this with delicate lyricism,” according to Inman.
Inman began work at SFA in 2017. During her undergraduate studies at Baldwin-Wallace College, she double majored in flute performance and music theory. She currently plays in the Celebration Orchestra at First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Cole, a native of Sicily Island, Louisiana, has lived in Nacogdoches since 2001. She received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from SFA in 2006. In 2008, she was the first person to earn the university’s master’s degree in piano performance and accompanying from SFA.Recital admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to park in the lot south of the building. For more information, contact the SFA School of Music at (936) 468-4602.

RELEASE DATE: Tuesday, August 22, 2023
Critical fire weather and extremely dry fuel conditions have increased the fire potential for much of east Texas today, including Nacogdoches County. In an effort to disseminate factual, real-time information, Nacogdoches County Emergency Management strongly encourages residents to register for the NacWise alert system.
NacWise Alert is a mass notification service that allows the county and City of Nacogdoches to send direct messages to its users in emergency situations. Citizens can register at no cost online at www.nacwise.com or by calling HyperReach at 936-715-3322 and following the prompts. Alerts are sent via phone calls, text messages and/or emails. TTY/TDD messages for hearing impaired as well as Spanish translated alerts are also available.
Very High fire danger is forecasted for the area due to critical weather conditions and extremely dry timber vegetation. Increased wind speeds associated with Tropical Storm Harold will contribute to worsening conditions. Any ignition that occurs may result in wildfires that burn intensely, with dangerous fire behaviors resistant to suppression efforts. Should evacuations be deemed necessary, NacWise alerts will be used to inform the public.
