Obituary: Rose Kathleen “Kathy” Eddington

     Rose Kathleen “Kathy” Eddington, 39, of Austin, Texas, passed away on June 2, 2011 in Austin.

     She was born on August 31, 1971 in Houston, Texas to parents John Patrick and Netha B. O’Meara.

     A funeral service will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas with interment to follow at Wooten Cemetery.

     Friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 1:oo pm until the time of service.

June 3: SFA Crime Log

     On 6-02-2011 an Officer was dispatched to Lot 14 in reference to a Hit and Run. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 6-2-2011 his unattended vehicle was damaged in lot 14. There are no suspects.

     On 6-2-2011 an Officer was dispatched to the Student Recreation Center in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with two complainants, who advised on 6-2-2011 money was stolen from their unattended purses at the Student Recreation Center. There are no suspects.

Hand Made Patio Furniture available this weekend at the Market (June 4)

     Jim Lemon will be at the market this Saturday. Jim sells cedar furniture constructed by local mental health consumers. Proceeds will go to defray expenses of the Anderson County Peer Support Drop-in Center in Jacksonville, Tx. Completed pieces will be available and orders will be taken for commissioned pieces.

     Things to look for: baked goods (breads, cakes, cookies & pies), organic beef, candles, canned goods (wild-picked jams & jellies including may haw, blackberry, blueberry, muscatine and wild plum as well as jams, marmalades, preserves, chow-chow, pickled vegetables, salsas and relishes), ceramics, artisan Texas cheeses, free-range eggs, locally raised organic tilapia fish and tilapia fillets, flowers, fudge, herbs (basil, coriander, dill, oregano, rosemary & thyme), dried herbs, local raw honey, jewelry, loofah sponges, plants (house plants, starter plants, trees & whips), lye ftlinesoap, tamales and vinegars. LOCAL PRODUCE: green beans, unshelled pinto beans, frozen beans (butter, green, baby Lima & pinto), beets (2 types), Bok choi, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, frozen corn (field & sweet), cucumbers, greens (collard, kale, orugula, mustard, spinach, Swiss chard & turnip), kohlrabi, red leaf lettuce, okra, onions (green, red, white and yellow), frozen peaches, peaches, plums, frozen peas (black eye, zipper cream, brown Crowder, English & purple hull), peppers (sweet banana, sweet Bell, hot Bell, & jalapeno), peaches, plums, new potatoes, rutabage, squash (patti pan, yellow & zucchini), tomatoes (green, Romas, red Celebrity slicers & red Jet Star slicers) and large purple top turnips.

     The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning and on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 6 p.m. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot.

Vendors needed for upcoming festival (July 4)

     Organizers of the upcoming 8th annual Brookshire Brothers Freedom Fest are seeking food vendors to fill available booths at the July 4th event in downtown’s Festival Plaza.

     Vendor applications are available at the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau, located at 200 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. A limited amount of booth space is available, so vendors are encouraged to make reservations early. The deadline to turn in vendor forms is set for June 15th.

     Brookshire Brothers Freedom Fest will be held July 4th. This year’s festival is presented by metro PCS, and the Nacogdoches Jaycees and celebrates our country’s independence. Local and regional musicians will perform from 5 to 9:30 p.m. in historic downtown Nacogdoches. Families are invited to enjoy delicious festival food, children’s activities and a fireworks display beginning 30 minutes after dark. Admission is free.
