Obituary: Angelique Limon-Garcia 2012 – 2012

     Graveside services for Angelique Limon-Garcia, infant daughter of Jose Limon Jr. and Claudia Patricia Garcia-Limon, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches.

     She was born and passed away January 18, 2012, at a Nacogdoches hospital.

     In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Maria Y. Limon, Jose Alberto Limon, Rosalia Garcia, and Rodolfo Garcia.

January 19: NPD Crime Report

This is a complete list of reports responded to by the Nacogdoches Police Department

Deadly Conduct; P12-01000- At approximately 6:45 AM yesterday morning, officers were notified that a 14 year old male had been threatened by an unknown suspect while waiting for a school bus. The incident occurred at Railroad and First Streets. The victim reported that he was waiting for the bus when a hispanic male pulled up in a vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and drew a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim ran into a wooded area and the suspect returned to his vehicle and left the scene. The suspect is described as a hispanic male in his early 20’s. The case is under investigation and no other information is available at this time.

Obituary: Pat Boatman Blacksher

     Pat Boatman Blacksher, 68, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed peacefully from this life January 16, 2012, in her home with her children by her side. She had fought a long and courageous battle with liver cancer.

     She was born May 16, 1943, in Nacogdoches to parents Leonard L. Boatman and Stella L. Vardeman.

     Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Rev. Terry Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches.

     Ms. Blacksher was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings; Kathleen Fargo, Max Boatman, Marie Bond, Ruby McClelland, Sammye Kolius, and Langston Boatman.

     Pat is survived by daughters, Kim Blacksher Anderson and Missy Blacksher Murdock and husband Shannon; son, Brandon L. Blacksher and wife Erin; grandchildren, Alexandria Anderson, Samantha Jho Blacksher, Natalie Murdock, Sophia Murdock, Ben Blacksher, Gus Blacksher; sister, Nell Rumley; sister-in –law, Lois Boatman; and numerous nieces and nephews and a world of loving friends.

     Although Pat Graduated from Central Heights High School and Massey Business College she chose to be a stay at home mom until her children started school. At that time she began working at a medical office where she was an office manager until retirement.

     Pat loved her grandchildren most of all but also enjoyed her friends. She loved entertaining friends and family and played Canasta with a special group of ladies for over 30 years.

     Pat loved going on trips with her “kids,” going to concerts, going to the beach, and especially making memories. She was thankful for everyday she was given, relied heavily on her faith and gave God the glory for every day. She was a great Mom, Nannie, sister, and friend that will be missed by everyone.

Obituary: Wilma Maurice Whitton Cecil 1914 – 2012

     Mrs. Wilma Maurice (Whitton) Cecil, age 97, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at a local nursing home.

     Born June 8, 1914, in Swift and reared in Chireno by Lewis and Mary Ward Whitton, Mrs. Cecil was the widow of the Rev. Anthony C. Cecil Sr., United Methodist pastor. She held a B.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University and an M.A. from University of Texas, Austin, having pursued doctoral studies at Baton Rouge.

     She taught English for 47 years, 33 of them at SFA. Elected favorite woman professor 16 times, she taught everything from composition and rhetoric to children’s literature. Former students ranged from state Sen. Roy Blake to Coach Bum Phillips. Before her retirement in 1980 as associate professor emerita, Mrs. Cecil became founding sponsor of SFA’s first sorority chapter, Gamma Chi of Sigma Kappa.

     She was an active member of First United Methodist Church.

     Mrs. Cecil is survived by her son, the Rev. Anthony C. Cecil Jr., retired United Methodist pastor, of Nacogdoches, and by a host of nieces and nephews.

     A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Gandin presiding.

January 18: SFA Crime Log

Tuesday January 17, 2012 – Wednesday January 18, 2012

On 1-17-2012 an Officer was dispatched to South Hall in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised between 12-16-2011 and 1-16-2012 his TV was removed from his secure residence at South Hall. There is one suspect.
