April 20 – April 27: SFA Crime Log

Thursday April 26, 2012 – Friday April 27, 2012

On 4-27-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Lot 6 in reference to a Hit and Run. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-27-2012 his unattended vehicle was damaged in lot 21. There are no suspects.

On 4-27-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the intersection of Wilson Dr. and Starr Avenue in reference to a vehicle that had struck a fence. Upon arrival the Officer located the vehicle and the driver. The driver was intoxicated and was driving with an invalid drivers license. The subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While License Invalid, Fail to Comply Upon Striking a Fixture, and Resisting Arrest or Transport. The subject was transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. There is one suspect.

On 4-26-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Lumberjack Lodge in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-25-2012 she placed her laundry in the fourth floor laundry room of Lumberjack Lodge and upon returning on 4-26-2012 she discovered some of her laundry was stolen. There are no suspects.

On 4-26-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of UPD in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised approximately three weeks ago he parked his unsecure bicycle on the bike rack near the Baker Patillo Student Center. Upon returning on 4-26-2012 he discovered the bicycle was stolen. There are no suspects

Wednesday April 25, 2012 – Thursday April 26, 2012

On 4-25-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Hall 16 in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-25-2012 his unattended backpack and laptop were stolen from the picnic table at Hall 16. There are no suspects.

On 4-25-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of UPD in reference to a Hit and Run. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-25-2012 his unattended vehicle was damaged in lot 7. There are no suspects.

Tuesday April 24, 2012 – Wednesday April 25, 2012

On 04/24/2012 an officer was dispatched to the UPD Lobby in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the complainant who stated that an unknown subject removed a text book from his backpack at an unknown time and unknown location between 1800 hours on 4/19/2012 and 1030 hours on 4/24/2012. There are no suspects.

On 04/24/2012 an Officer was dispatch to lot 46 in reference to a burglary of motor vehicle. Upon arrival the officer made contacted with the victim, who stated that an unknown person(s) had made entry in to the victim’s unsecure vehicle taking a Garmin GPS without the victim’s consent. There are no suspects.

On 04/24/2012 an officer was dispatched to the University Police Department in reference to a threatening letter received by a person. The subject that wrote the letter was identified and later confessed to writing the letter. A warrant for arrest was obtained for the subject and he was arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail for the charge of Terroristic Threat. There is one suspect.

On 04/25/12 an officer was dispatched to the lobby of Mays Hall in reference to a burglary of a habitation. Upon arrival it was found that an unknown person(s) had entered an unsecure room in Mays Hall and removed property belonging to the victims. There are no suspects.

Tuesday April 24, 2012 – Wednesday April 25, 2012

On 04/24/2012 an officer was dispatched to the UPD Lobby in reference to a Theft. Monday April 23, 2012 – Tuesday April 24, 2012

On 4-23-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Lumberjack Landing in reference to a Disturbance.
Upon arrival the Officer located two subjects fighting in a public place. Both subjects were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct Fighting in a Public Place. There are two suspects.

On 4-23-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of UPD in reference to a Burglary of a Habitation. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-23-2012 numerous items were stolen from her unsecure residence at Hall 20. There are no suspects.

On 4-23-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Hall 16 in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-23-2012 her unattended cell phone was stolen from the restroom at Hall 16. There are no suspects.

On 4-24-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Hall 14 in reference to an alcohol complaint. Upon arrival the Officer located seven minors in possession of alcoholic beverages. There are seven suspects.

Friday April 20, 2012 – Monday April 23, 2012

On 4-22-2012 an Officer made contact with three suspicious subjects standing near an illegally parked vehicle in lot 20. The Officer found one of the subjects to be in possession of marihuana.
The subject was arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 4-22-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Lot 2 in reference to a Hit and Run. Upon arrival the complainant stated on 4-22-2012 his unattended vehicle was damaged in lot 2. There are no suspects.

On 4-22-2012 an Officer made contact with an intoxicated person on East College St. The subject was found to be intoxicated to a point of being a danger to himself and others. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 4-22-2012 an Officer was dispatched to Steen Hall in reference to a subject refusing to leave the building. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the subject and determined the subject to intoxicated to the point to where he was a danger to himself and others. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 4-21-2012 an Officer was dispatched to lot 34 in reference to a Hit and Run. Upon arrival the Officer located a vehicle that was damaged. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and advised that the damage was not on her vehicle when she parked the vehicle. There are no suspects.

On 4-21-2012 an Officer was dispatched to a Fight in Progress in front of the William R Johnson Coliseum. Upon arrival the Officer located subject fighting in a public place. Officer’s attempted to place the subject into mechanical restraints, but the subject began pulling away from Officers and refused to give Officers his hands. The subject was arrested for Disorderly Conduct Fighting in a Public Place and Resisting Arrest or Transport. The subject was transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. There is one suspect.

On 4-21-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the Baker Patillo Student Center in reference to a Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with the complainant, who advised on 4-21-2012 money was stolen from her unattended purse at the Baker Patillo Student Center. There are no suspects.

On 4-21-2012 an Officer made contact with a subject on Baker St. The Officer determined the subject was intoxicated to the point he was danger to himself and others. The subject was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There is one suspect.

On 4-21-2012 an Officer made contact with a suspicious vehicle in lot 43 that had three occupants. One subject was a minor in possession of alcohol and was issued a citation. A second subject was in possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued a citation. The third subject was in possession of marihuana. The subject was arrested for possession of marihuana and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident. There are three suspects.

On 4-20-2012 an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of UPD in reference to Theft. Upon arrival the Officer made contact with an SFA employee who advised on an unknown date a parking and traffic sign was stolen from lot 27. There are no suspects.

Obituary: Winford Earl Boney

     Winford Earl Boney, 87, of Nacogdoches County passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at a local hospital.

     He was born December 12, 1924, in Marietta, Texas, as a son of the late Rufus Marvin Boney and Geneva Cromer Boney. Winford was married to Betty LeNell Shew Boney on December 18, 1954. They were married for 57 years and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2011.

     Winford was a chef for all of his life and known by many as “The Pie Man.” His pies had four inches of meringue. He retired from Stephen F. Austin State University’s food services department.

     He had a love for Cadillac automobiles. He also had a great love for music and playing the piano. He enjoyed Rock ‘n Roll and Gospel music. He loved to cook and taught Betty about cooking. He had a love for all sports, but his favorite was basketball. Winford graduated from high school in Cass County, where he played basketball. He was a hard working man all of his life.

     Telling jokes and making people laugh brought great pleasure to him. He loved to watch television while laying on the couch with his eyes closed.

     His survivors include his daughter, Beverly Ann Williams and husband Randall of Nacogdoches; sons, Stephen Earl Boney of Melrose and Carl Lynn Boney of Richardson; grandchildren, Candice Marie Brooks Matchett and husband Trey of Nacogdoches, Meagan Nicole Boney Watkins and husband Jason of Nacogdoches, Angela Williams Schueneman and husband Zack of Rockwall, and Amber Michelle Williams of Denver, Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Adrianna Brooks Turnham, Jefferson Brooks Holbrook, Briley Chyanne Watkins, Alix McGuire Schueneman, and Braxton David Schueneman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Orville Ray “Sarge” Boney and J.D. Boney; and a sister, Louella Boney Brombaugh.

     Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North St. in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Wayne Shew officiating.

     The family wishes to express special appreciation to Dr. Mark Cline and staff as well as Stallings Court and Nacogdoches Medical Center’s Emergency Room and Trauma Care staffs for the special care provided.

FUGITIVE SEX OFFENDER APPREHENDED IN LOUISIANA

     A man wanted by Nacogdoches Police for failure to register as a sex offender for over four years has been apprehended by the US Marshal Service in Shreveport, Louisiana.

     Charles Ray Rusk, age 55 was arrested yesterday in Shreveport. Rusk was also wanted by Nacogdoches Police for an aggravated robbery that occurred in Nacogdoches in January 2006. This incident occurred in the parking lot of Burger King at 2921 North Street, where a then 80 year old female victim was drug to the ground during a purse snatching.

     Rusk was convicted in 1978 of sexual assault of an 8 year old female child.

     NPD Detectives developed information that Rusk was living in the Shreveport area, and relayed this information to the federal authorities.

     Rusk is currently being held in the Caddo Parish jail awaiting extradition.
