This weekend at the Farmer’s Market

Cindy Pruett will be at the market this Saturday. She sells carrots, cilantro, greens (arugula, Swiss chard, red Russian kale & spinach), parsley, potato pockets and herbs (oregano, rosemary & sage) from their Appleby Community Farm. She also has reusable shopping bags and caps with their Appleby Community Farm (ACF) logo on them. For information about the Appleby Community Farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm on HWY 59 between Appleby and HWY 259, check out their website: www.applebycommunityfarm.com or stop by and visit with them at the market for membership information. They are currently taking applications for the Spring season beginning March 5.

Things you might find this time of year: baked goods (breads, cakes, mini cheesecakes, cookies, fried pies & pies), candles, canned goods (jams & jellies, marmalades, preserves, chow-chow, pickled vegetables, salsas & relishes), artisan Texas cheese, organic chicken, free-range eggs, local raw honey, jewelry, plants (cacti, bedding plants, house plants, fruit trees, trees & whips), soaps (lye and herbal), sugar cane syrup, tamales, vinegars, fruit wines and wood products. LOCAL PRODUCE: beets, broccoli, cabbage (Chinese & regular) , carrots, cilantro, greens (arugula, Swiss chard, collards, kale, mustard, French sorrel, spinach & tatsoi), herbs (dill, rosemary & sage), lettuce, green onions, parsley and pecans (shelled & unshelled).

The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot. Mark your calendars for March 23rd for our annual Spring Fling event!

Obituary: Jimmy Wilton Parmley II

Jimmy Wilton Parmley II, age 41, of Nacogdoches County, Texas, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, in Nacogdoches.

Mr. Parmley was born January 24, 1972, in Nacogdoches and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Douglass High School.

Jimmy had worked as a truck driver and enjoyed working with trucks. He also enjoyed harrasing his sister with early morning phone calls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy W. and Glenda Parmley.

His survivors include his sister, Rena Kay Parmley Coats and husband Sammy of Nacogdoches; nephews, Raymond Murillo of Henderson and Philip Coats of Nacogdoches; a special cousin, Daryl Adams of Nacogdoches; and a step-son, Corey Knight.

Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches. Interment will follow at Nat Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2013, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
