Twelve arrests made by SO with more to come, reports say (With mugshots)

On April 2, 2013, Investigators with the NCSO, along with the Sheriff’s Administration, began follow up into the numerous burglaries that have occurred in Nacogdoches County. The primary focus was on the more recent burglaries that have occurred in the Melrose area, however it was quickly learned that the organization reached throughout our county.
The investigation began with little or no leads. Therefore, Investigators began to put small pieces together from citizen’s reports from suspicious activity. Once Investigators met, a plan was formulated and the following results occurred from proactive awareness from our citizens and good police work.
Two Burglaries that had occurred between Cr 503 and CR 504 were solved and warrants have been obtained for a suspect in the case. Warrants for the arrest of Calvin Otis Jackson, 56 years of age have been issued for Burglary of a habitation 2nd felony.
A stolen television from a location inside the city was recovered and the suspect has yet to be identified.
In an attempt to locate a suspect from CR 411 and CR 419 burglaries, Investigators located one of the largest methamphetamine laboratories in Nacogdoches County history. This resulted in the arrest of three people on Press Road.

Investigators then were led to a stolen four wheeler inside the city of Nacogdoches which has been recovered. Investigators then began to back track the theft of the four wheeler. This investigation led investigators to another residence inside the city limits of Nacogdoches. Investigators follow up led to the arrest of four more people at this residence for the possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine. A total of 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine was recovered. Arrested at the scene were Josh Allen 24 years of age, Chase Whittington, 17 years of age, Brandon Sowell, 25 years of age, and Jasmin Lindsey,20 years of age were arrested for felony possession of controlled substance a 2nd felony. Chase Whittington was also served with a felony warrant for burglary of a building, State jail felony.

These arrests led to another search and arrest warrant in the county where one arrest was made and another large quantity of methamphetamine was discovered. 8 grams of methamphetamine was found at the residence. Jerry Stotts was arrested at the scene.

The NCSO patrol division is commended for the recovery of a stolen four wheeler that was found in the Swift Community. A follow up investigation resulted in the arrest of arrest of Quentin Bell, 28 years of age. A warrant has also been issued for the arrest of Justin Ferguson 26 years of age for Engaging in criminal activity felony 3rd degree.

While conducting a follow up to this investigation, Deputies were also able to solve two more burglary investigations that occurred on Cr. 716. Fenton, Anthony-Paul 21 years of age was arrested for two charges of burglary of a building, State Jail felony. Investigators have also obtained warrants for the arrest of Ariana Cary, 21 years of age, Daniel Henson, 20 years of age, and Crista Cary 17 years of age for engaging in criminal activity 3rd felony.

While Investigators were looking for another suspect in the Appleby Burglaries, Investigators recovered three stolen laptops, one of which was stolen from Mississippi, and investigators are working to identify three possible suspects in these cases.

Throughout this whole investigation, the goal was to reach the main party involved for the thefts and to locate the people who have been selling the stolen property. Investigators have had identified the main target for a majority of the burglary investigations, and an arrest warrant was issued for Rickey Spurr, 39 years of age and Thomas Stroud, 28 years of age.
Upon Investigators serving the arrest warrant on both suspects, Investigators had probable cause for a search warrant of Spurr’s residence, who resided in an upper scale neighborhood in the city of Nacogdoches. Search of the residence also located more stolen property, methamphetamine and ammunition that had been taken in another burglary. The suspect was also charged with Burglary, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of stolen property.
All together a total of three search warrants were issued this past week. A total of 29 additional charges have been filed and investigators are in the process of linking all the solved cases to each suspect.

Approximately ten thousand dollars worth of property have been recovered and many of these investigations are still open for further review.

The Nacogdoches County District Attorney has been working with the NCSO and has assisted tremendously in the possibility of an organized criminal activity case.

The Sheriff Office has arrested 12 suspects and several arrests are pending.
However, I feel that it is extremely important to not only send a message to our criminals, but to show our citizens our due diligence in resolving crime in our county.
Narcotics and burglaries go hand in hand; twenty years ago someone would steal for themselves and keep the property. However, in changing times, the people are stealing to support a habit and lifestyle of narcotics usage.
