Nacogdoches City Council Regular Meeting, September 3
Talents of SFA art faculty featured in exhibitions
Recently created art in a variety of media will make up the annual “SFA Faculty Exhibition,” which the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will open with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The video installation “Echo” by SFA School of Art faculty Linda Post invites viewers into three-dimensional time-based experiences that encourage reflection and provoke thought.
The faculty and Post exhibitions “highlight the talents of the SFA School of Art,” according to John Handley, director of the SFA galleries.
“The faculty exhibition demonstrates the virtuosity and personal artistic achievement of those instructing students on a regular basis,” Handley said. “Simply put, it is our chance to show off and highlight these amazing artists.”
The faculty exhibition will feature all media, including painting, photography and sculpture.
In her work, Post explores perception and individual position in experiential works of video installation, sound and photography. Her installations and audio works invite viewers into three-dimensional time-based experiences that encourage reflection and provoke thought, Handley explained.
Post’s work can be seen in Reavley Gallery, while the faculty show will be displayed in Ledbetter Gallery. The exhibitions will run through Oct. 19.
The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. Regular gallery hours are from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
All art exhibitions are free and open to the public. They are sponsored in part by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts and the Nacogdoches Junior Forum.
