The Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association recently established the Pat Spence Scholarship for The Pine Log to help support students majoring in mass communication and/or art.
This scholarship was endowed for the former director of student publications by past students and friends of The Pine Log. Spence earned a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1968 and a Master of Arts in communication from SFA in 1987. During the time between her degrees, she worked in the newspaper and public relations industries. Serving almost 30 years as the director and adviser of The Pine Log, Spence retired from SFA in 2014.
The Pat Spence Scholarship for The Pine Log will be awarded to currently enrolled students who are mass communication and/or art majors, with an emphasis on photography and ad design. Recipients must maintain at least a 2.0 grade-point average.
Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship may send a check payable to the SFASU Foundation with instructions to apply the gift to the Pat Spence Scholarship for The Pine Log. Donations should be mailed to P.O. BOX 6096, SFA Station, Nacogdoches, TX 75962.
Note: There will be a Technical Committee meeting at 9:00 am prior to the regular meeting.
