The Junior League of Lufkin Announces their Latest Project

FOR MORE INFORMATION
CONTACT: Susan Belasco (936) 208-1483

For more than 60 years, the women of The Junior League of Lufkin have been working to build a better community. This year, the Junior League is excited to continue this work through the newest project, The JLL’s Second Chance Rummage Sale!

The Second Chance Rummage Sale will serve the community directly by providing much-needed items at greatly reduced prices and by donating hundreds of dollars in Second Chance Cash vouchers to other organizations such as the Family Crisis Center of East Texas-The Women’s Shelter, the Mosaic Center, Godtel and Buckner Family Services just to name a few. These clients will be able to redeem the Second Chance Cash vouchers for much needed merchandise at the Rummage Sale.

Poverty remains an urgent problem within the United States and we witness it each day right here in our own backyard. With close to 20% of Angelina County residents living below the poverty level, it is critical that we strive to serve those in need. Many of our neighbors in Angelina County cannot afford basic items required for daily living such as food, clothing and shelter and others will be overlooked for employment opportunities because of these limited resources.

The Second Chance Rummage Sale will take place October 9th and 10th at The Grand on First at 416 S. First St. If you would like to help by donating items, there is one last donation drop off on August 22nd from 10-12 p.m. at Dunagan Warehouse which is located at 1507 Webber St. All donations are tax-deductible. We currently have enough clothing and are in need of larger items such as furniture, housewares, lawn equipment, etc.

For more information about the Junior League of Lufkin Second Chance Rummage Sale or to make a donation, please call Susan Belasco at 936-208-1483.
