Dr. Esther Teixeira, assistant professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies at Texas Christian University, was the keynote speaker for the Women’s and Gender Studies Symposium sponsored by Stephen F. Austin State University’s Division of Multidisciplinary Programs and Women’s and Gender Studies on March 23 in Dugas Liberal Arts North. Teixeira’s presentation, “The (in) Visibility of Prostitution in Brazil,” was followed by student-led discussions and paper presentations on various topics, including feminism and religion.

AUTO/PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT

POLICE NON-EMERGENCY 936-559-2600
The Nacogdoches Police Department responded to 3500 SE Stallings Dr in reference to an auto pedestrian collision which occurred late Saturday night.
Officers arrived and found that a male subject, identified as Danny Abercrombie, 57, of Nacogdoches had been struck by a vehicle driven by Shamica Russaw, 32, of Nacogdoches. A preliminary investigation reveals that Abercrombie may have failed to yield the right of way to the vehicle. Abercrombie was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. The investigation is still ongoing.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nacogdoches Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
