Stephen F. Austin State University’s Friday Night Film Series will screen “The Iron Giant” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House. Admission is free.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in August, “The Iron Giant” is the story of 9-year-old Hogarth Hughes who makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that came from outer space. Meanwhile, a paranoid U.S. Government agent arrives in town, determined to destroy the robot at all costs. It’s up to Hogarth to protect the gentle giant and prove his goodness.
Written by Tim McCanlies, Brad Bird and Ted Hughes and directed by Brad Bird, “The Iron Giant” stars the voices of Eli Marienthal, Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Aniston and Vin Diesel.
