The Nacogdoches Police Department was involved in a high-speed vehicle pursuit Thursday evening that ended in a rollover accident and the arrests of several members of the same family.
Officers attempted to stop a car on SE Stallings Thursday evening for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed leaving the city limits on the west side of town.
The pursuit ended in the 1800 block of CR 723 when the vehicle took a curve at a high rate of speed and rolled over and the driver fled on foot. Officers believed him to be hiding at a nearby residence.
Officers made contact with the residents and were met with resistance and hostility. Officers had probable cause to believe the driver was inside the residence and obtained a search warrant for the residence. Nacogdoches SWAT arrived and multiple other agencies assisted, including the Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Office and The Texas Highway Patrol.
Once officers attempted to serve the search warrant at the residence they were again met with resistance and interference. The entire family was eventually arrested and charged with various offenses. The subject in question, Joel Moreno-Bustamante, was then discovered hiding inside the residence within a sleeper sofa.
