Aramark Dining Services at Stephen F. Austin State University receives Keep Texas Beautiful award

ScreenAramark Dining Services at Stephen F. Austin State University was recently nominated by Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful (KNB) for its efforts to protect the Texas environment and to make Texas the cleanest, most beautiful state in the nation. Keep Texas Beautiful will present Aramark with the Ebby Halliday and Maurice Acers Business/Industry Award, which recognizes businesses with sound environmental principles supporting the Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful mission, during its 51st annual conference in June.

The Keep Texas Beautiful award program identifies individuals, businesses, media outlets and government agencies that have made an impact in their community. Aramark was recognized for its sustainability programs on the SFA campus.

“Aramark Dining Services at SFA is dedicated to sustainability and strives to play an active role in sustainability on the SFA campus through student engagement programs and significant investment in recycling infrastructure, following the motto of “Bleed purple; think green,” said Candace Bell, Aramark Marketing Manager. “With support and the purchase of a recycling infrastructure, SFA is now the only place in Nacogdoches that offers a public-space recycling program.”

According to Bell, Aramark supported the launch of the first campus-wide plastic recycling program at SFA in 2017.

Aramark employs an SFA student as a sustainability intern to manage and support sustainability programs on campus.

“We engage student organizations through plastics-recycling collection and competition at sporting events” said Jenna Gonyea, Aramark Sustainability Student Intern at SFA. “We participate in RecycleMania, a program that promotes waste reduction activities on university campuses across the nation, by tracking SFA’s campus-wide recycling of 39,530 pounds for 2017. We perform quarterly student-operated food waste audits and have donated more than 3,378 pounds of food to Godtel Ministries.”

In 2014, Aramark initiated a 100-percent transition to reusable to-go containers at on campus dining halls and has since saved more than 230,000 Styrofoam containers from entering the Nacogdoches landfill each year, Bell said.

Nice article! on my first visit to Aramark, I saw fashion apparels with affordable prices. I bought a T-shirt for my husband by embracing coupons from dealhack.
