The Nacogdoches Police Department was notified this morning of a possible scam involving the sale of home security systems.
The complainant reported that an elderly citizen was contacted by telephone with a security system offer. Initially, the homeowner agreed to have an alarm installed on a particular date and time.
After attempting to contact the company again using the telephone number provided by the solicitor, there was no answer. A call to the security company indicated that they had no representative or installer in this area.
The NPD reminds citizens to be very careful when giving out personal information to callers. Never give out personal information out over the telephone to anyone that you did not call.
