Student takes top honors in the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Competition

Red Oak native Jade Bly, a sophomore mass communication student at Stephen F. Austin State University, took top honors in the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Competition for college mass communication students. In recognition for placing first in the television category, Bly was honored at the Excellence in Journalism, Student Union event at the recent Society of Professional Journalists National Journalism Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Bly also received a plaque and scholarship from the Broadcast Education Association and the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation. She is pictured with her plaque in the SFA Department of Mass Communication’s TV2 Studio.
