SFA horn students excel

Stephen F. Austin State University horn students Daniel  Hawkins and Taylor Goodwin recently received separate recognitions.  Hawkins, a freshman from Chandler, won first place at the Music  Teachers National Association divisional competition. He will compete  with four other brass players at the national competition in New York  March 24 through 28. Goodwin, a sophomore from Ennis, received a $2,500  scholarship from the Texas Music Educators Association. This is the  second year that the organization has awarded her a scholarship. Both  musicians study with Dr. Charles Gavin, SFA professor of horn.
