Obituary: Forrest Lee Meador 1938 – 2012

     Mr. Forrest Lee Meador, age 73, of Garrison, Texas, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

     Mr. Meador was born July 6, 1938, to the late Melba Martha (Olds) and Percy N. Meador and was a lifelong Nacogdoches County resident. He and his family operated Meador’s Grocery and Catfish Buffet in Appleby many years in addition to agricultural operations. Forrest Lee was employed by Nibco for 28 years, retiring from management.

     Mr. Meador was a member of the board of directors of Deep East Texas Electric Co-op Inc.

     He was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School where he was an American Farmer in FFA. He was a member of Texas Farm Bureau and the Antique Car Club. Forrest Lee was a member of Milam Lodge #2, as well as the Scottish Rites and Shriners, and Order of the Eastern Star Nacogdoches Chapter #428, where he was a Past Patron.

     He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pearl Meador, to whom he was married June 7, 1958; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stacey Meador; grandson, Chase Meador; and a granddaughter, Maci Meador.

     Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North St. in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Benny F. Lewis and Bro. Neal Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.

     Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.

     Pallbearers will be Bob Free, Gerald Hebert, John Schoenrock, Tom Rohsner, Travis Chandler, David Shipley, Alex Miller, and Wallace Sprayberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Curbow and Deep East Texas Electric Co-op board of directors.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
