Frederick J. Harkins III, 61, of Etoile, was killed after his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a culvert and was ejected.
Harkins was southbound on FM 226 five miles south of State Highway 103 when it happened. It is unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the DPS report.
Harkins was pronounced dead at 6:55 a.m. and taken to Laird Funeral Home. His occupation was reported as a dispatcher and jailer.
Fred was known to all of east Texas as one of the best PARAMEDICS !!! He was an educator , mentor and all around good guy. He will be missed by many !!
