Obituary: Evelyn Jewell White

     Funeral service for Mrs. Evelyn Jewell Kelley White, 86, of Granbury, Texas formerly of Nacogdoches will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011, at 11:00 am at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Ferrar Bentley officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

     Mrs. White was born on March 4, 1925, in Browndel, Texas to the late Oscar L. and Jewell Chance Kelley. She passed away on July 21, 2011, in Granbury, Texas.

     Evelyn was raised in Sabine County, Texas. She and her family moved to Nacogdoches in the 1940s. She enjoyed sewing dresses, clothes and quilting as well as watching Dancing with the Stars. Evelyn was a very private but generous person. She was an excellent wife and mother and would help anyone in need. She worked all her life and took care of her family.

     Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Lisa Littlefield of Arlington, Texas and Virginia Cox and husband, Jim of Trinity, Texas; one son, John White and wife, Gail of Nacogdoches; two brothers, Bobby Kelley and wife, Monika of Granbury, Texas and Edwin Kelley and wife, Beverly of Longview, Texas; one sister, Nancy Womack of Bronson, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Martha Kelley of Katy, Texas, Avis Kelley of Katy, Texas and Lula Rose Kelley of Houston, Texas; one brother-in-law, Hershel Lawson of Jasper, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family and good friends.

     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Maxine Lane, Frankie Coan, Shirley Jones, Jackie Robinson and Ida Nell Lawson; and brothers, Melton T., Oscar “Buddy”, William “Billy Joe and W.H. Kelley.

     Pallbearers will be Tommy Lambret, Buck Lee, Jerry Don Fultz, A.R. Armstrong, James Griffis and Dr. Nick Schwedock.

     In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Nacogdoches Senior Center, 621 Harris St., Nacogdoches, Texas 75961.

     Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011, from 5-7 pm at Laird Funeral Home.
