Obituary: Maggie Mae Little

     Maggie Mae Little, 83, of Nacogdoches, TX, was called home by her Lord and Savior Friday, May 20, 2011 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born October 29, 1927, in Pittsburg, Texas, the daughter of Reverand Paul and Effie Davis Reynolds. As a minister’s daughter, she attended various schools and churches throughout the state. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 23, 2011 at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. John Branham officiating and burial to follow at 5 PM in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas.

     On August 23, 1943 she married Arthur D. Little and they celebrated 56 years together. As a retired real estate agent, she enjoyed spending her time as a servant of the church. She served in the capacity as a Sunday School teacher, camp counselor and most recently, a Sunday morning greeter and member of the Ladies Quilting group. Maggie was an accomplished seamstress who was known to perform short notice “miracles”and was often called upon for special requests.

     She loved using her talent for others. She also enjoyed gardening, cake decorating, and cooking, but foremost loving and being with her family.

     Maggie is survived by two daughters, Diane Baker and husband, Jim of Appleby, Texas and Beverly Koonce of Lufkin, Texas: three grandchildren, Richard Baker of Nacogdoches, Chris Koonce and wife, Malissa of Nacogdoches and Patricia Smith and husband, Jeffrey of Central Heights, Texas; nine great grandchildren, Dylan Baker, Donna “D.J.” Baker, Caitlin, Kyle, Koda and Kobi Smith, Kayli, Kolton and Kade Koonce; brother, David Reynolds and wife, June of White Oak, Texas; three sisters, Jo Delaney of Jacksonville, Texas, Louise Baird of Atlanta, Texas and Margaret Ritter and husband, Ernie of Lantana, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as other beloved family members and friends.

     In addition to her parents, Maggie is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; an infant son, Larry; sister, Peggy Honea; son-in-law, David Koonce; and grandson, Ryan Koonce.

     In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Children’s Camp Fund, 211 East Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas, 75964 or the Ryan Koonce Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o SFASU, Nacogdoches, Texas 75962.
