The suspect was identified as Tristan Venegas, 30, of Nacogdoches, Texas, who had previously been identified as a person of interest in an earlier report involving the offense of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. A short time after that investigation began, officers received the sexual assault report identifying Venegas as the suspect.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim reported that she and Venegas met at a local bar before returning to her residence, where the sexual assault occurred.
