NACOGDOCHES POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FROM FRIDAY’S OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

(JANUARY 2, 2024): The Nacogdoches Police Department has made two arrests in connection with Friday’s officer-involved shooting. Jose Iraheta, 25 years of age from Nacogdoches, Tx, along with Gabriel Ramirez 19 years of age also from Nacogdoches, Tx have both been charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant and are currently in the Nacogdoches County Jail.

During the course of this investigation there have been multiple search warrants served within Nacogdoches County which resulted in Jose Iraheta being additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana, Theft of Firearm, Tampering with Physical Evidence, three counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Control Substance, and two counts of Prohibited Weapon. Gabriel Ramirez has additionally been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted during the course of this investigation. As the investigation continues, there may be other individuals charged. As further information becomes available it will be released.

NACOGDOCHES POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING. INCLUDED IS AN UPDATE

(DECEMBER 29, 2023): Around 12:40 a.m. this morning a Nacogdoches Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a light colored Chrysler 300 in the 1700 block of S. Fredonia St. The vehicle was very slow to stop but eventually stopped near the intersection of S. Fredonia and South St. Once stopped, an unidentified passenger attempted to shoot the officer, firing multiple rounds at him. The officer returned fire at the suspect. At Least one bullet from the suspects gun struck the officers patrol vehicle The suspect vehicle then fled westbound with the unidentified shooting suspect. The officer was uninjured in the shooting. It is not known if the suspect was injured. As a matter of protocol the Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate due to it being an officer involved shooting. Multiple agencies are assisting us in attempting to identify and locate those responsible. This is a very active investigation. As further information becomes available it will be released. UPDATE:

(DECEMBER 29, 2023): The Nacogdoches Police Department along with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office, UPD, DPS, and Texas Rangers have been aggressively working to identify and bring to justice the individuals involved in this mornings officer involved shooting. Several search warrants are being executed within Nacogdoches County. US Highway 7 West was shut down for a period of time due to the execution of a search warrant in the 5400 block. Highway 7 west has since been reopened. There is still a heavy police presence in the 6900 block of Woden Rd where another search warrant is being executed. As further information becomes available it will be released.
