The Stephen F. Austin State University Office of Multicultural Affairs and Lumberjack Cultural Association are virtually hosting the Tunnel of Oppression from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3 on Zoom.
“The Tunnel of Oppression is an enlightening and eye-opening experience that gives individuals who attend an insight on current topics that are affecting the world that they may be unaware of,” said Breanna Moore, LCA president.
The annual interactive museum spotlights different forms of oppression through theatre and multimedia presentations. In the past, the event has shed light on issues such as human trafficking, genocide, racial profiling and suicide.
“I want attendees to learn about different events and social topics and acknowledge the different forms of oppression that do not affect them directly,” Moore said.
The event is free and open to the public. However, due to the seriousness of the topics, children younger than 13 should attend with a parent or guardian.
To register for the event, visit sfasu.edu/oma. For more information, contact the Office of Multicultural Affairs at (936) 468-1073 or oma@sfasu.edu.
Reaching City of Nacogdoches becomes more user-friendly
In an effort to aid citizens and stakeholders in reaching the City of Nacogdoches in a more streamlined manner the city has been making the shift to new email address suffixes and a new web domain name: nactx.us.
Previously citizens were able to reach city staff via email and all city-hosted webpages by entering ci.nacogdoches.tx.us. However, as technology has evolved and become more prevalent it has become imperative for the City of Nacogdoches to ensure user-friendliness in order to prevent misspellings and bounced emails.
Moving forward, nactx.us will be the preferred email address suffix and domain name for web addresses. Those who are still utilizing the previous “ci.nacogdoches.tx.us” for this purpose will still be able to reach city staff via email and other web addresses without changing contacts or bookmarks.
