“Right now, we are accepting students interested in pursuing commercial aviation. Commercial pilots will be highly sought after in the coming years, and we are building a superior program to address that need,” said HCH Aviation Chief Instructor Jon Hughes. “Plus, the partnership and initiative with SFA can be the path for those who have a passion and a longing to be a pilot, but are unsure of the education and training required to reach that goal.”
Through a collaboration with SFASU, or through direct contacts, HCH Aviation is accepting student applications; and Hughes is ready to share the necessary commitments, costs and requirements to obtain a commercial pilot’s license. “Keep in mind that the information I can provide could make a dream become a reality for so many who have a desire, but may not have an inkling what it takes to fly for a commercial airline,” he said. “We can open up this career path to those who are outside of the traditional flight school students who have relatives who are pilots or have a military background with flight experience.”
“We are building a program that uses new state of the art aircraft and simulators at a fraction of the costs of other like programs. A strong partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University will yield students a superior education coupled with “best in class” flight training. Our goal is to bring a value proposition to students that simply cannot be ignored,” said HCH Aviation President and Co-Founder Kristen Conklin.
The HCH Aviation flight training program is open to the following students:
• traditional and non-traditional (collegiate and non-collegiate);
• interested in earning a bachelor’s degree or not;
• interested in a flight career or interested in recreational flying;
• seeking a program that is affordable while offering top-of-the-line training equipment and instructors.
Hughes is giving an open invitation, “If you have a serious curiosity about the steps it takes to become a commercial pilot or learning to fly a plane in any capacity, please contact me at (936) 221-4327 or jhughes@hchaviation.com.”

Catalogs for the exhibitions “Found/Loaded” and “Encoded,” currently showing in The Cole Art Center, showcase the works.
Two exhibitions – Fisher and Rachel Anderson’s “Found/Loaded” and Eisele’s “Encoded” – are showing in The Ed and Gwen Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, SFA’s historic downtown art gallery. The shows can be viewed in person through March 20.
Pre-registration is required to participate in the virtual artist talks and a gallery tour. Registration can be accessed at art.sfasu.edu/gallerytalk.
In “Found/Loaded,” Fisher collaborates with fashion designer Anderson to transform found objects as diverse and seemingly unrelated as dry cleaning identification stickers, sacramental furniture, grocery bags and newspapers. The work in “Found/Loaded” is primarily text based, mixed media and found object, although it includes some drawing and painting.
In describing her exhibition “Encoded,” Eisele writes that Byzantine iconography has “a rich history where the techniques used for each aspect of the painting have symbolic meaning.” These traditions have remained unchanged for centuries. Eisele’s work invites viewers to contemplate the ways in which the past is visually encoded upon the present.
The shows are sponsored in part by the SFA Friends of the Visual Arts, William Arscott and the Nacogdoches Junior Forum. Admission is free. Social distancing and face masks are required.
The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main Street. For more information about the School of Art and the exhibitions, call (936) 468-4804.
