NACOGDOCHES POLICE DEPARTMENT HOSTS TEEN ACADEMY
The Nacogdoches Police Department hosted its first ever Teen Academy on Tuesday July 20, 2021. The academy was designed to be educational and fun for the 24 teens that attended. The Texas Dept. of Transportation, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and many others assisted in making the class successful. Some of the topics covered were hiring practices, drunk driving, distracted driving, vaping, gun safety, cell phone and social media safety, and S.W.A.T. operations. The Nacogdoches Police Department plans on making this an annual event and expanding the academy to host as many teens as possible each year.

SFA Gardens to host Lunch Bunch
Stephen F. Austin State University’s SFA Gardens will host its monthly Lunch Bunch event from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Brundrett Conservation Education Building, 2900 Raguet St., in historic Nacogdoches.
Participants should bring their own lunch and join staff members from SFA Gardens as they share the topics of this year’s Lunch Bunch meetings, which are geared toward garden-minded individuals.
This event raises awareness for upcoming SFA Garden’s events and volunteer opportunities, including at SFA Gardens plant sales and weekly landscape upkeep on the SFA Gardens grounds. Parking will be available at the nearby Pineywoods Native Plant Center.
