UPDATE-DROWNING INCIDENT- LAKE NACOGDOCHES

The victim in a reported drowning incident at Lake Nacogdoches yesterday has been identified.
James Wellington (Jim) Brake, age 87 of Nacogdoches was observed by witnesses entering the west side swimming area of Lake Nacogdoches at about 12:30 pm yesterday. After swimming for a period of time, the witnesses observed him to be in possible distress and he disappeared under water.
The witnesses were able to pull Mr. Brake to shore. An inquest was held at the scene by Justice of the Peace Pct 1 Kerry Don Williamson. An autopsy has been ordered.

DROWNING INCIDENT- LAKE NACOGDOCHES

At 12:52 PM this date, a 9-1-1 call was received from the west swimming area at Lake Nacogdoches of a man submerged in the water, inside the swimming area.
Upon the arrival of emergency medical personnel, fire and law enforcement, citizens were bringing a man from the swimming area to the shore. Examination of the man showed no signs of life.
The investigation is continuing.
The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
