UPDATE ON NACOGDOCHES POLICE DEPARTMENT HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

(May 8, 2023): The Nacogdoches Police Department has completed its preliminary investigation into the Homicide that occurred on May 6, 2023 in the 700 block of Rock Oak St. Initially when officers arrived to the residence they found Brandon Horton 34 years of age from Nacogdoches, Tx inside the residence suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. During the course of the investigation it was determined the adult female resident was inside the house with an adult male friend prior to Brandon coming to the residence. Brandon did not live at this residence. When no one would come to the door after knocking Brandon used a large metal object to break down the door. Once inside, while still carrying the large metal object, Brandon broke down a bedroom door where the male was attempting to hide. The male discharged his firearm striking Brandon. The resident and male friend both called 911 immediately after the shooting. Both subjects were questioned by investigators and have fully cooperated with the investigation. No charges have been filed. As a matter of protocol the case will be forwarded to the Nacogdoches District Attorney’s Office for presentation to the grand jury.
