City Of Nac: “Homemade cheese this week at the Farmer’s Market” (Feb 26)

     Dr Gregory will be at the market Saturday with oxalis bulbs, cut narcissus flowers, forsythia planting whips, fresh herbs (coriander, oregano & rosemary), starter plants (cilantro, cornflowers, iron leaf, pansies, red spider lilies & sweet pea), small trees (boxwood & red oak) and fruit wood for BBQ. Dr Gregory will also have homemade goat pine cheese from Cleveland, smoked Gouda and other artisan cheeses from Waco, artisan Gouda cheese from Farwell, Texas and artisan cheddar cheeses (jalapeno, sharp cheddar and caraway) from Dublin, Texas.

     Other things to look for this Saturday: baked goods (breads, cakes, cookies & pies), canned goods (wild-picked jams & jellies including may haw, blackberry, blueberry, marmalades, preserves, chow-chow, pickled vegetables, salsas and relishes), artisan Texas cheeses, free-range eggs, locally raised organic tilapia fish and tilapia fillets, flowers, herbs (basil, chives, coriander, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage & thyme), local raw honey, jewelry and plants. LOCAL PRODUCE: frozen beans (butter, green, baby Lima & pinto), frozen blueberries, broccoli, cauliflower, frozen field corn, cucumbers, greens (collard, mustard & turnip), kohlrabi, romaine lettuce, onions, unshelled peanuts, frozen peas (black eye, zipper cream & brown Crowder), sweet potatoes, new potatoes and tomatoes (cherry, Romas, red Celebrity slicers & red Jet Star slicers).

     The Nacogdoches Farmers’ Market, located at the “hitch lot” at the corner of West Main and Pearl Streets, is open from 8 a.m. until noon or later every Saturday morning. The market is open on Saturday mornings. If the market parking lot is full, additional parking is available in the Nacogdoches County Courthouse Annex parking lot.
