February 11: NPD Crime Report

     PUBLIC INTOXICATION-RETALIATION-ASSAULT ON A PUBLIC SERVANT-RESISTING ARREST-HARASSMENT OF A PUBLIC SERVANT-DISORDERLY CONDUCT; 100 BLOCK OF PEARL STREET. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A DISTURBANCE INVOLVING 15-20 PEOPLE. THIS SUSPECT WAS OBSERVED PUSHING ANOTHER PERSON AND WAS YELLING AND SCREAMING. HE WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION. ONCE IN THE PATROL CAR, THE SUSPECT ATTEMPTED TO KICK THE WINDOW OUT OF THE UNIT. OFFICERS PLACED THE SUSPECT IN LEG IRONS, AND HE KICKED AN OFFICER IN THE HEAD WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO PUT HIM BACK IN THE UNIT. THE SUSPECT THEN BEGAN TO SPIT ON AN OFFICER WHILE ENROUTE TO THE JAIL. MATTHEW VINES IS THE SUSPECT IN THIS CASE.

     TWO MORE ARRESTS WERE MADE FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION AT THIS DISTURBANCE.

     THEFT; 1200 BLOCK OF SOUTH STREET. A FEMALE SUSPECT REMOVED SEVERAL ITEMS FROM A STORE AND FLED WITHOUT PAYING. THE MANAGER GAVE CHASE AND THE SUSPECT WAS APPREHENDED BY POLICE.

     FORGERY; 3200 BLOCK OF NORTH UNIVERSITY DRIVE. A SUSPECT TRIED TO EXCHANGE A COUNTERFEIT BILL. THE MANAGER REFUSED, AND THE SUSPECT LEFT THE STORE, LEAVING THE BILL BEHIND.

     DWLI; 100 BLOCK OF NORTH SANDERS. A SUSPECT WAS STOPPED ON A TRAFFIC VIOLATION AND FOUND TO HAVE A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND NO INSURANCE. HE WAS ARRESTED.

     DWLI; 2600 BLOCK OF NORTH UNIVERSITY DRIVE. A DRIVER ON A TRAFFIC STOP HAD A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND NO INSURANCE. HE WAS ARRESTED.

     POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA; 700 BLOCK OF EAST STARR. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A DRUG COMPLAINT. OFFICERS CONTACTED A SUSPECT IN A VAN AND COULD SMELL THE ODOR OF BURNING MARIJUANA. OFFICERS LOCATED SUSPECTED MARIJUANA IN THE VEHICLE. THE OCCUPANT WAS ARRESTED.
