NPD officers continue to investigate an early morning car crash that has left three persons dead and one critically injured.
The crash occurred in the 2400 block of East Starr Avenue, near the intersection of Glen Hollow Street. The call came in to the Nacogdoches Consolidated Communications Center at 1:24 a.m., Monday morning.
The investigation indicates that a 2007 Dodge Charger, driven by Chace Scruggs, was travelling east on Starr Avenue when it left the roadway and struck several trees. The vehicle then caught fire and burned. A second vehicle that was following the Charger came upon the accident in a curve and called 911.
Three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, including Scruggs, Rajeen “Ray” Williams, and Geena Zarick. A fourth person, Trent Haynes, was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. All are currently, or were recently, enrolled in SFA.
NPD officers will continue to investigate the cause of the accident and Starr Avenue will be closed for much of Monday morning.
