The 14th Annual Nacogdoches County Agriculture Appreciation and Awareness Banquet is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. The keynote speaker and location will be announced soon, according to event chair Angela Shannon.
“Agriculture has a tremendous economic impact on our county, and these awards are an opportunity to recognize the efforts of agricultural leaders in our community,” Shannon said. “There are many distinguished agricultural producers and agribusinesses located in Nacogdoches. We are looking to honor them and to say thank you for the contribution that they provide to all of us.”
The committee is made up of representatives from the Nacogdoches County Ag Economic Development Committee, Nacogdoches County Farm Bureau, Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, Nacogdoches Economic Development Corp. (NEDCO), Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Forest Service, Pineywoods Resource Conservation and Development and The Texas Department of Agriculture.
Peggy and Campbell Cox received the Nacogdoches County Farm Family of the Year 2014 award. David Alders presented the plaque to the family at last year’s Agriculture Appreciation and Awareness Banquet.
