– Want to be a part of the largest lighted Christmas parade in East Texas?
Organizers of the 18th annual Nine Flags Christmas Festival are now accepting entries for the lighted Christmas parade sponsored by First Bank and Trust East Texas. The parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, December 6 in historic downtown Nacogdoches. Entry forms are available online at www.nineflagsfestival.com and at the Visitor Center, located at 200 E. Main St.
“The lighted Christmas parade has become one of the biggest highlights of the festival,” said Jannette Watts, Marketing Director for the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Every year we have so many creative entries, and it is really neat to see what people come up with. The parade itself is unique because it’s a nighttime parade and the floats are a sight to see as they light up the brick streets with Christmas cheer.”
All parade entries must be received by Monday, November 10. Fees are $30 for floats and trailers and $15 for all other entries. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries for float and non-float categories. Jonathan and Drew Scott of HGTV’s Property Brothers as well as brother JD Scott of Great American Country TV’s All-American Amusement Parks will be the judges for this year’s parade, and they will be selecting winners based on aesthetic quality, originality, creativity, use of animation and/or humor and use of illumination.
The Nine Flags Christmas Festival is a celebration of Texas history and pays special tribute to the nine different flags that have flown over the oldest town in Texas. The festival will be held Nov. 21 through Dec. 13 in Nacogdoches, located about 150 miles north of Houston via U.S. 59. Platinum sponsors of the festival include Mike Perry Motor Company and Texas Farm Products.
