Obituary: Anna Muriel Fleckenstein

Anna Muriel Fleckenstein quietly passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2012, at the age of 99, at her home at Magnolia Court in Nacogdoches, TX. She is survived by three children; Dr. Loren D. Fleckenstein of Nacogdoches; Ms. Sheri Fleck-Rieth of Coldwater, MS; and Mr. Charles M. Fleckenstein of Overland Park, KS. She also is survived by a sister, Lila Rae Morland, of Spring Hill, KS, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Lee Fleckenstein, and two brothers, John Marshall Morland and Marvin Duke Morland.

Anna was born Anna Muriel Morland on March 13, 1913, the daughter of Duke Wellington and Lottie Sears Morland, in rural Rawlins County, Kansas. She graduated from Atwood High School in 1930, and married Loren later that year, helping him with his gasoline distribution business in Herndon, KS.

The long-time Herndon residents moved to Atwood in 1969, where Loren worked for the Farmer’s National Bank and Anna was a dedicated home maker. She was a member of the Immanuel Church of Christ in Herndon, the Eastern Star in Atwood, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, whose members had relatives who fought in the American Revolutionary War.

Services will be held at a later date in Herndon, KS. She will be inurned at the Herndon Immanuel UCC Cemetery at a date to be announced.
