NEW NPD K-9 UNIT MAKES MARIJUANA ARRESTS

The newly filled K-9 team at the Nacogdoches Police Department recently made a large narcotics seizure, just three weeks after it’s start.

Officer Brian Eggebrecht with his partner, Hanna, stopped a 2007 Chevy Impala for a traffic violation early Thursday morning on NW Stallings Drive on Nacogdoches. Upon contact with the driver and passenger, Eggebrecht smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle.

After a voluntary consent to search was given, Eggebrecht located 50 lbs of marijuana in the trunk of the car. The driver, Veronica Marie Hagberg, and passenger, Edgar Lopez, were arrested and transported to the Nacogdoches County Law Enforcement Center and charged with Possession of Marijuana, 3rd degree Felony.
