SFA photographer earns awards

    Hardy Meredith, Stephen F. Austin State University photographer, received two awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s recent District IV conference in Fort Worth.

    Meredith received Silver (second place) Awards in two different categories. His image titled “Penalty Hold” taken at an SFA women’s soccer game was honored in the category of black and white candid photography. “Special Speaker,” a portrait of SFA Director of Bands Fred Allen, was recognized in the category of digitally enhanced photography.

    A native of Angleton, Meredith is a 1981 graduate of SFA and worked as a photographer for The Pine Log student newspaper before going to work for The Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches. He joined the university staff in 1996 and has since earned more than 30 CASE awards for his images. He also is the recipient of a 2012 SFA President’s Achievement Award for outstanding achievement and excellent service to the university.

    CASE is the organization for advancement professionals working in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and related areas. Membership includes more than 3,400 colleges, universities, independent elementary and secondary schools, and educational associates in more than 60 countries around the world. SFA is part of CASE District IV, which encompasses Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
