Obituary: Annie Pearl Herston Hamner

     Mrs. Annie Pearl Herston Hamner, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in Houston, Texas. She was born on June 9, 1915 in Killen, Alabama, to parents, Robert Phillip Herston and Sarah Eliza Joiner Herston.

     Annie Pearl is preceded in death by her parents; husband; four children and all 18 of her brothers and sisters.

     She is survived by her son, Donnie Ray Hamner and wife Esta of Chireno, Texas; daughters, Dr. Lynda Hamner and her husband Nicola Russotto of Grand Junction , Colorado; and Carleen Andrews and her husband George of Houston; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Annie Pearl was a vivacious mother and grandmother who had an outgoing personality and loved life to the fullest. She will always be remembered for her humorous stories and life lessons that will be handed down for generations to come.
Friends and guests are invited to attend a committal service at Lower Chireno Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2012 with Pastor Waylon Brown officiating. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 pm at Chireno Baptist Church in Chireno, Texas. She will be laid to rest by her husband for 58 years, Robert J. (Blackie) Hamner.

     In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2425 Fountain View Drive, Suite 280, Houston, TX, 77057, in the name of her great-granddaughter, Olivia Cone.

     Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Alpe, Greg Andrews, T.A. Bazor, John Cone, Matthew Hamner, Troy Hamner, Ricky Holloway, Kelvin Lamon, and Kenneth Simms.
