Obituary: Maxine McMillan 1929 – 2012

     Mrs. Maxine McMillan, 82, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at her residence.

     Maxine was born on February 21, 1929 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to parents, Willis Monroe (Roe) Bridwell and Velma Castleberry Bridwell.

     Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Rev. Jerry Fulton and Rev. Will Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street.

     Maxine graduated from Demonstration School in 1946 and married her husband Malcolm in 1953. She worked at TXU Energy, retiring in 1987. She was a member of University Baptist Church. She enjoyed many responsibilities including Sunday School teacher and Children’s Church. She was involved in Gideon’s of Nacogdoches with her husband Malcolm. She loved being with her grandchildren Melody and Morgan. She enjoyed teaching Melody how to cook and can in the summer. Maxine also loved shopping together, working in the yard with Morgan. She enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets and Lowe’s with her brother, Bennie. Maxine was a great cook and we all loved her homemade rolls, she will be greatly missed by all.

     Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Colby Krauskopf; sister-in-law, Charlotte McMillan Taylor; and brothers, Durwood Bridwell and Lendon Bridwell.

     She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Malcolm McMillan; daughter Micah Krauskopf and husband, James; granddaughter, Melody Krauskopf; grandson, Morgan Krauskopf; brother, Bennie Bridwell, brother-in-law William “Bill” Taylor of Garrison; sisters-in-law, Robbie Bridwell and Jean Bridwell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
