Agriculture scholarship funds are available for high school and undergraduate students attending StephenF.AustinStateUniversity. An online scholarship application form is located at the scholarship link at www.sfasu.edu, and the deadline to apply is Feb. 1.
“The scholarships have been for $500 with a required major within the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture or with a major in agriculture, forestry, or environmental science programs,” said Dr. Dale Perritt, SFASU agriculture department chair. “This includes about 17 various areas of study from which they may choose.”
The SFA Ag Scholarship is open to NacogdochesCounty high school seniors or existing and transfer students who reside in NacogdochesCounty who have similar goals in association with the purpose of the Nacogdoches Agriculture Committee.
“Sponsorships help us finance future scholarships,” event chair Angela Shannon said. “A $5,000 presenting sponsorship, $2,500 prime sponsorship, $1,000 choice sponsorship and $500 select sponsorship are available.”
The Nacogdoches Agriculture Committee consists of representatives from Nacogdoches County Farm Bureau, Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, Nacogdoches Economic Development Corp., Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Cooperative Extension Program, Pineywoods RC&D, Stephen F. Austin State University Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture and the Texas Forest Service.
These organizations are proud to co-sponsor the Agriculture Banquet honoring the Agriculture Industry in NacogdochesCounty.
“The committee works together to promote agriculture and agricultural-related business in NacogdochesCounty,” said Shannon. “We identify economic development strategies and resources and establish relationships that result in growth in agri-business and agri-business research in NacogdochesCounty – one of the top 10 agriculture producing counties in Texas.”
